PARISH PRIEST: Father Chris McCurry. Born in Wallasey 1945. Studied for the priesthood at Ushaw College, Durham, and the Venerable English College, Rome. Ordained at SS Peter & Paul, New Brighton, 27 September 1970. Served at St Joseph's, Stockport (1971-74); All Saints, Ashton on Mersey (1974-82); Our Lady of the Rosary, Donnington, Telford (1982-88); English Martyrs, Wallasey (1988-96); Our Lady Star of the Sea, Ellesmere Port (1996-2003); St Ann's, Cheadle Hulme (2003- ). Secondary interests mostly musical: composer, occasional conductor, leader of St Ann’s parish Choir, singer in two local choirs.

Father Chris celebrated forty years of priesthood just over a year ago, with gratitude to God and to so many people - good friends and collaborators in the service of God's people - in six different parishes over the years.   St Ann's parish came together, along with invited guests, for a special thanksgiving Mass, and there was a series of other celebrations, which seemed to be greatly enjoyed by all who took part - and very much by the jubilarian himself! Like a ruby wedding, such a milestone should be a significant and joyous occasion, and this certainly was! Thanks to all who made it so successful.

LOCAL PASTORAL AREA St Ann's is one of the three churches making up the Shrewsbury Diocese's Local Pastoral Area 19 - dedicated to St Chad, a 7th century bishop thought to have had links with this area (Cheadle = Chad Hill?) The other two parishes of the LPA are Christ Church, Heald Green, and St Chad's, Cheadle.
